Your travels

I have road trip from my hometown in central Nebraska all the way to Los Angeles, California. The reason that I decided to drive instead of getting a flight was because I wanted to see the different states that we crossed. I enjoyed seeing the way the landscape changed from the plains to mountains and then to the desert. At that point in my life I still hadn’t seen the ocean and my goal was to see the Pacific Ocean. It was one of my greatest experiences because I was able to see the ocean in between Venice beach and Santa Monica Pier. The motivation for my trips has been to visit family or to enjoy a nice vacation. I have traveled to Virginia and the Washington D.C. area to visit people on my mom’s side of the family. I have traveled to Chicago and Houston to vacation and enjoy what the city has to offer.

Why travel?

Huberman explains to her friends that she travels because it would expose her to new ideas and people. While she was on a 10-month working trip around the world she was exposed to a totally different culture in India. She learned that people in India just dispose of their trash by throwing it on the floor. Her experiences led her to see a person getting beat up to get a confession of the person. Lastly, she understood that travel the world is about learning new experiences but it’s also about seeing things back at home in a different perspective. Not to take for granted the 5th amendment or having trash cans available. She was able to see different aspects on life differently because of her experience traveling.

Why travel top ten

My three reasons for traveling that are the most important to me are: it teaches you about the world, it makes you more tolerant, and it provides you with unforgettable moments and experiences. I do believe that traveling teaches everyone about the different cultures and customs that are around the world. It makes people realize that everyone around the world does things differently and that okay. Many people that don’t travel are the ones that are negative about people from other places. Traveling teaches individuals to be tolerant to other ways of life and to realize that diversity is a wonderful thing to have. Traveling also provides for unforgettable moments and experiences that can be passed down from family member to family member. It is also a wonderful conversation starter talking about the different places one has traveled.

Why should young people travel?

Peterson’s argument derives from personal experiences that he has had. Those arguments that he makes a claim for have been things that have helped him. In addition, he gives valuable insight as to why young people should travel. For example, he talked about globalization and makes an argument that everything is globalization and it’s important to want to learn about other cultures, traditions and nationalities. The six reasons are: you’ll get out of your comfort zone, traveling builds confidence, you will develop cultural sensitivity, you can adapt to globalization, be immersed in a second or third language, and infinite opportunities to network. I think that traveling as a young person allows someone to be more independent and self-reliant.

Why don't Americans travel?

Some Americans feel that we have everything in the United States that there is no reason to go outside the United States decides Mexico to vacation. Another realize that might be is work. People in the United States are so in tune with working constantly and sometimes it’s hard for individuals to even get a day off of work. Also, American’s don’t travel because of what’s on the media. The media makes it hard for people to want to travel when reports of certain places around the world are engulfing our television. While the United States is one of the most affluent countries in the world it is still hard for American’s to travel due to the cost of the trips.

Self-imposed Isolation?

I have family friends that have a self-imposed isolation. They are not willing to travel anywhere even when they have weeks off available at work because of how dangerous they deem the world to be. Since they left their countries of origin and established themselves they rarely travel anywhere that is over one hundred miles from their home. The reason that they are the way they are is because they are scared of the many dangerous things that can happen to them. Their kids have mentioned that they would love to travel to different place, but their parents don’t even let them. While they can take many weeks off of work they prefer to work instead of traveling to somewhere new.

Describe the lives of some people you know and how they engage in self-imposed isolation.

Passports

This image suggests that most of the people in the great plains and the Midwest don’t have their passport. It’s also astonishing to see that two of the top populated states over 60% of the people have their passport. I think that what this image indicated is that people in California and New York are more likely to travel because they deal with the most diversity. They are constantly meeting someone from a different place in the world which helps they want to travel.
