1 Landscapes

The majestic Iguazu Falls located in the Parana State of Brazil, bordering Argentina is one of the biggest waterfalls in the world. It is about 2.7 kilometers wide and to put it into context it's almost double as tall as the Niagra Falls. In addition to the extraordinary size, it can pour approximately 1,500 cubic meters of water per second but during the rainy season, it can be around 13,000 cubic meters of water per second. Brazil is home to many different landscapes and this image is a perfect example of the landscape that is home to Brazil. The mountainous region behind Botafogo Beach in the city of Rio de Janeiro is iconic. Botafogo Beach is a known place where locals participate in different recreational activities. Botafogo Beach looks out to the Sugarloaf Mountain and the Morro da Babilonia, in addition to the mountain range it is known for being home to the Rio de Janeiro Yacht Club. The Lencois Maranhenses National Park in the State of Maranhao is known for its white dunes. The Lencois Maranhenses National Park while it had dunes and no vegetation is not classified as a desert because it receives about 47 inches of rain each year. The way that the dunes are formed is that the winds from the Atlantic Ocean push the sand inland creating the dunes. In addition to the dunes, it is also known for the lagoons that are created because of the rainforest. The national park receives about 60,000 visitors every year. The Anavilhanas National Park which is 100 km from Manaus is home to the largest river archipelagos. An archipelago is a small cluster of islands and the Anavilhanas National Park is home to more than 400 of those archipelago islands. The park was created to protect the Amazon. Tourists can visit the national park and be able to go on the different water trails during different times of the year. 2 Cities

Joao Pessoa, the capital of the State of Paraiba is known for being the easternmost point in the Americas. Due to the location of being the easternmost point in the Americas people refer to the city as "the city where the sun rises first". The population of Joao Pessoa is 801,718 which makes it the most populated city in the state. Porto Alegre is one of the most important cities in all of Brazil. In economic production, it is one of the most important in the region. Due to the position of the city, it's an important city for inland navigation. The city is known for having many businesses and has very important universities like the Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. Sao Paulo is one of the best industrial centers in Latin America. The city is located in a unique location, the city was established in a shallow basin. The way that the city got its name was because it was founded by Jesuit missionaries. Sao Paulo is the largest city in Brazil. One of the things that Sao Paulo is known for is their soccer team called Santos. The best player soccer player in history played for Santos which made the city of Sao Paulo known for their soccer team. Belo Horizonte is the capital of Minas Gerais in Brazil. The city of Belo Horizonte is modeled after Washington D.C. The city itself has lots of great architectural wonders. One of Brazil's most famous architect named Oscar Niemeyer built multiple buildings in Belo Horizonte and it is one of the reasons why the city is a tourist attraction. A main attraction in the city is the Museum of Mineralogy, which is important to the city because the surrounding areas have been mined. The population of Belo Horizonte is 1.4 million inhabitants. 3 Landmarks

The Teatro Amazonas is a marvelous opera house that was built in Manaus, Brazil. The unique aspect of this landmark is that it's not in one of the coastal cities but in a city that is in the Amazon. The building was built under the supervisor of Celestial Sacardim who was an Italian architect. Some say that the reason why the Teatro Amazonas was built was to attract famous singer Enrico Caruso to come to Manaus. The Teatro Amazonas was at some point closed for 90 days because the wealthy and elite of Manaus moved away once the source of income for the city faltered. Copacabana is one of Brazil's most popular beaches. Copacabana provides many different options for tourists from beautiful hotels, restaurants, nightclubs, and many more things. Copacabana has many different things to offer the people that visit there. The beach is about 4 kilometers long and it stretches in a curve way. The Itaimbezinho Canyon is the biggest in Brazil and it is located in the Parque Nacional dos Aparados da Serra. The Itaimbezinho Canyon is about six miles long and about one mile deep. Although it is a beautiful site to marvel at, it's extremely dangerous for people that want to visit it. There are countless waterfalls and one thing to be aware of is to not travel there during the raining season. The river at the bottom of the canyon can become very treacherous. Christ the Redeemer was built on top of the Corcovado Mountain. The materials that were needed to build Christ the Redeemer were trolly up the mountain by a train. The statue is 98 feet tall and the arms are 92 feet wide. The purpose that the statue was built was to symbolize Brazilian Christianity. One important fact to note is that the stone that was used to build the statue was imported from Sweden. 4 Images of People

Brazilian people are passionate about many things but one of the things that they are known for being passionate about is soccer. Brazil has been the only country to have won five world cups, the most won by any country. Brazil is known to produce historically great soccer players. Pele was the first name that transcended borders and was a household name all over the world. Brazil hosted the World Cup in 2014 but ended up being a complete disaster when they got beat 7-1 against Germany. Brazil is one of a few countries in the world that has immense diversity in its population. Due to the slave trade in its earlier history, lots of people of African descendence were taken to Brazil. Another community that is big in brazil is Japanese. Another ethnic group that is prevalent in brazil is Germany. Many traveled there after WWII. In addition to the people that were taken to Brazil, there are a lot of native people that Brazil has been their homeland for thousands and thousands of years. The Brazilian flag is one of the most unique flags in the world. The main colors are green, yellow, blue and white. Inside the yellow diamond is a blue globe that has twenty-seven stars and a phrase that means "Order and Progress". The flag was made official on November 19, 1889. The reason that the flag has stars inside the blue globe is that it represents the constellations that were out when Brazil shifted from empire to republic. One group of people that are struggling the most in Brazil is the indigenous population. Much of the territory that they call home is being destroyed due to deforestation. Although most tribes want to be left alone, most are coming to an understanding that if they want to preserve their ancestral lands the are going to have to raise awareness. A tribe called Kayapo is using whatever nonviolent or illegal method they can to let people know of their situation. Brazil is a country where nature and technological innovation are one. Rio de Janeiro is a great example of how architects use the landscapes around them to create great infrastructure. Rio de Janeiro has trams that go from mountain to mountain showing some of the most beautiful scenic pictures. The way that the architects made sure that everyone had a perfect view, all the trams are glass 360 so that people that observe the scene from every direction. The Rio de Janeiro carnival is extremely unique to Brazil. People from all over the world travel to Brazil to experience that once in a lifetime moment. Nearly five hundred parties are happening all over the city of Rio de Janeiro. The planning for the carnival is year-round as floats and plans have to be created. The carnival is full of dancing, parades, drum corps, and smoke-breathing dragons. The carnival is unique to Brazil but gathers ideas from all over the world.
